play date

Well we have been very busy the last month. Everything seems like a whirl wind. It's almost nerve racking to have time to slow down and think. God is good however and promises so much to us, one such promise is, He will never leave us nor forsake us!

I haven't updated much about my little family the last couple weeks so I am going to fill in some of those details in the next couple post.

Back in the middle of September my sister came by and picked William up after her soccer practice to go spend the afternoon with Bobby, Rachel's boyfriend. Wills loves to go to Bobby's house where he can play with Duke (their pure bred German Shepherd), have snacks, and entertain and be entertained by Bobby and his family. Rachel said Wills could have practically gotten anything from Bobby's mom after he ran up and gave her a hug. What a sweetie! It is really funny to hear him talk about all his little experiences. Rach and Bobby even took Wills to Jamba juice, which is one of his favorite places to go. Then they brought him back to Grandpa and Grandma's house to play some more. Chrisy had just gone into the hospital with her high blood pressure so the girls with hanging out with me at Grandma's house. Rachel hardly even got to talk to Bobby as the kids kept him very busy! As Wills says, "Bobby at College," so he hasn't had another fun play date since but he is looking forward to the next one!

Saying Farewell

I took these pictures at the hospital of Dan and Chrisy saying goodbye. They are kind of sad. Nick hasn't even looked at them because they are so sad.

Megan's funeral went very well. It was a sad day but also brought some relief of everything being finalized. One of the saddest moment's for me was watching Charity. She was pretty sad and seemed confused. She was just snuggling in and hugging people. It was sad but cute. It was also fun to watch Kate because she doesn't understand what really is happening so she continues on with her life. It just seemed to exemplify how sweet childhood is and how God allows life to go on.

For all those who wanted to be there but couldn't attend. Here are a few memories. This will be my last post dedicated to just our sweet little Megan. Please continue to pray for Dan and Chrisy because the next couple months will be difficult.

Here are a few things written for Megan by her Grandparents

To Megan Hope Myers From your Grandma Myers
You came upon this earth too soon, we didn’t know what to do.
December not September was the date we set for you.

It was God who set the timing though and knew what He would do.
He determined when you came He would see you through.

When you came, you had no name. We were unprepared.
This gift from God, this little one, this one that God had shared.
To Dan and Chrisy a babe was given, so small, so weak, so frail,
could she survive the test of time or would we see her fail.

Your struggle lasted just six days and you were brought to Glory
To be with your creator to learn of His great story.

A place prepared for those who trust that Jesus is the way.
And dear sweet, sweet, Megan we will see you there someday.

So sing your praises loudly that we may be at rest.
To trust in Christ completely His timing is the best.
His love so much, much greater then we could ever give.
We share with you forever as we continue yet to live.

Farewell for now Dear Megan we say our last good-bye.
We will see you in eternity. We will see you when we die.

Jesus is My Gentle Shepherd
Richard French
A Message of Hope
Hi, I’m Megan Hope Myers, and today I met Jesus!
I was born only five days ago--so young and so small. I came much earlier then expected, weighing barely more than a pound, and measuring less than twelve inches when I stretch. But as tiny as I was, I still cried when I took my first breath—to let Mommy and Daddy know I was here.
The doctors and nurses took good care of me around the clock, others came and prayed, but my favorite time of the day was when my mommy and daddy came to visit. The familiar sound of their voices comforted me so; I felt safest then.

This morning, another Visitor came—it was Jesus, my very Creator. He gently picked me up and, as He cradled me in His loving arms, He said it was time to go home.
“But why do I have to leave my mommy and daddy and sisters so soon?” I asked. His answer was simple. “I created you for a very special purpose, and you have accomplished everything I planned for you. You are not able to be with them now, but someday soon they will come to you, and you will run to them, and they will hold you in their arms again.” He also explained how dear Mommy and Daddy are to Him, and that I was the most precious gift they could give.
Jesus loves me! This I know, for He Himself has told me so!
Little ones to Him belong, I was weak, but He is strong!
Yes—Jesus loves me, He always tells me so.
I miss you so much, but I am happy and safe in the arms of Jesus.
Precious Megan

Funeral

Megan's funeral is today at 10:00 am with a reception at my parents house immediately following. Please pray for strength for the family but especially Chrisy. She went back into the hospital yesterday because she still had preeclampsia in her system. She was able to stay off the mag (which she hated so much she was considering letting her body go into seizures to stay off of it) and she is feeling much better. She was released last night and the Dr. sent her home with some blood pressure medication so that stays low. Pray especially for her headaches. She gets headaches when she is tired, stressed, and crying and I would imagine this day will include all three of those items. Thank you.

Going home

Megan was called home to be with God. She was doing really well and then all of a sudden she passed away. The Doctor's are not even sure why this happened. They were as surprised as everyone else. Dan and Chrisy are doing as well as can be expected. They are going to miss their baby and watching her grow up and develop but they are finding hope in the Everlasting arms of our Savior. Thank you for all of your prayers!
I will post more details about her funeral when I have them.

Update on Megan

First off I want to say I spelled her name wrong. It is spelled Megan not Meghan, oops!
Well she is doing good. I just got off the phone with Dan and he said that she is breathing the same air we are which means her lungs are doing great. She is still incubated but she is breathing room air. She had her brain scan today and things seemed to be pretty normal. There were a few things Dan said that seemed to be like "bubbles" he couldn't remember the technical term, the Dr. said it isn't unusual and they aren't concerned but they are going to keep on eye on it and rescan next Wednesday. Her blood sugar level was a little high today so they are also going to keep an eye on that as well. Overall the news is encouraging and she really is doing well. Dan sounded encouraged so that is good. She is very very tiny and it is incredible that she is alive and seems to be thriving. Praise God!

Chrisy is also doing well. She went home on Monday afternoon. She is in pain from her C-section but she is glad to be home and her body is healing. She will be pumping milk for little Megan which is going to take a lot of time and effort so please pray for patience to stick with it.

Dan was able to take the week off so he is able to to stay home and help out with the girls. Chrisy homes schools Charity so they are back at that and looking to face a lot of juggling of schedules in the next couple weeks. I know Dan and Chrisy really appreciate all your prays for them and for baby Megan.

Here are the most recent pictures of her given to Dan from the Hospital.

looking around.

I can't believe she opens her eyes and looks around. Just seems crazy that she is so tiny but yet everything works!
Dan made the comment that these pictures seem to make her look a little washed out.
when you look at this tiny foot you don't have a lot of perspective so it doesn't look as tiny as it is but look at the cord and also the print on the blanket and then you are shocked how tiny she is.
She already has hair. Dan said he thought if she went full term she would have had a ton of hair.

Meghan Hope Myers

My brother Dan was expecting his fourth daughter in the middle of December, God however knew that she was to arrive much earlier. Chrisy went into L&D (labor and delivery) last week for a severe head ache. Her blood pressure was high, which it never is, so they assumed that it was a result of the pain she was in. Chrisy continued to check her blood pressure and went back in Thursday (a week later) because it had consistently been high. At one point the Dr. released them to go home after spending hours at L&D. While they were leaving she got a abdomen ache and they returned to the Dr. and were readmitted. Turns out Chrisy had (or has?) preeclampsia. What you don't read there is that it can become really serious really fast leading to even seizures and kidney and liver problems. So After a long process and a few ultra sound the Dr.'s decided that the baby, who was measuring at 22 weeks even though Chrisy was 27 weeks, was going to be better outside the womb. They gave her some steroids to help develop the babies lungs on Friday and on Saturday Chrisy had an emergency C section at 3 p.m.

Meghan is just over 1 lb (I am not sure what her specific weight was but right around 1 lb) and she measures 11 inches. Her lungs are doing well but she is on oxygen. Today they turned the oxygen down a little because she was breathing well. Even though she is doing well and so far there aren't any major complications she is absolutely tiny! She has a long long journey ahead of her. Please pray for this sweet little girl as she continues to fight for her life. The nurse said that the first 48 hours they call the honey moon stage because things seem to go well but that afterward they call it the roller coaster because they can face one thing after another. A few specific things in her immediate future are more chest x-rays to see how her lungs are doing. The Dr. said a part of her lung looked collapsed but they weren't concerned because that isn't uncommon in premies. She also said that her heart is beating very quickly and there might be a small valve (or something like that, sorry I don't know the specifics) that is normally open for babies when they are in the womb but when they are born it closes and it is possible that hers didn't close. She said that if she has bowl movements and it shows her kidneys working alright then they may be able to treat it with medicine. If not then it requires surgery. She also has a brain scan on Wed to see what her brain activity is. The only thing that the Dr. said she was a little concerned about was that her white blood cell count was down which might show she has an infection so they are going to keep her on antibiotics for awhile because she isn't capable of fighting anything off.
here she is in her new home.

Dan and Chrisy are doing well. Chrisy is recovering and the her blood pressure is doing much better. She was on Magnesium phosphate for 24 hours after her delivery and she had a really bad head ache. She said they medicine was making her sick. I haven't talked to her since she has been off but hopefully that was the reason for her head ache. She is hoping to be released from the hospital in the next couple of days. I know Dan and Chrisy appreciate your prays a lot! This is all very sudden and new to them. They need pray even to know the right questions to ask.

The three big sisters are doing well. They are all still young enough not really to understand everything that well so they are enjoying, as Chrisy said, "their vacation at Grandma's house." They visited the hospital today and I think it made them sad to see there mom not getting out of bed. Charity, who just turned 6, was pretty bummed by the end. Kate really wanted to see Meghan and it was really cute to hear her say her name.

Dans hands give you a little perspective on how small she really is.

she is so so small but perfect. It is truly amazing that she has perfect fingers, toes, and so on. God is truly marvelous.

She is in a big plastic container staying warm and cozy.

She is under this big blue light because she is very jaundice.
Thank you for your prayers. As I know more definite facts I will continue to post them. I hope this brings you to your knees in humility, thankfulness, and awe of our great and powerful God.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

getting so big

When Allie first came everyone told me William was going to look so big. Because I expected that he just seemed incredibly heavy (30lbs in comparison to almost 8 is a big difference) but I wasn't shocked by how big he was, I expected him to be. The last couple of weeks however, he seems to have grown up so much and gotten so big. My mommy heart can't help but well up with love, pride, sadness, excitement, and a number of other emotions as he just went running to bed with dad and told me he loved me... He is just so sweet! I was watching him on the playground tonight and am just so thankful for how much I love him. Nick started school last week, after having taken a semester off and so far, even though it is hard, it is nice to have a little friend to hang out with and talk with. It helps with some of the loneliness. Anyway... William is getting big. Every couple of months I look at him and go WOW when did he get so tall. I am amazed how fast time goes. I was putting away all his baby clothes, since we had a baby girl and she won't really be wearing them (I'm finally over the shock she is a girl :), and I went for a trip down memory lane. It feels like yesterday he was her size. I both love and hate the fact that they grow up so fast. He really isn't my baby anymore and it makes me really sad :) Part of why he isn't a baby anymore is because he has a little sister who is very much so a baby still. I am really enjoying Allie's infancy, much more then I did Williams. I am much more comfortable in my role as a mom and I find it much easier to interact with her just because of my experience. I could keep rambling on and on but I will draw to a close because I am in a reflective mood and I am tired and the combo would probably lead to more chatter on my sweet children and how they get so big so fast that may bore anyone reading other then a mother feeling this exact way... So anyway...

We are doing well. William got the "nursery cold" a couple weeks ago and gave it to Allie but I think we are over that. She is also getting very big and she continues to be a very sweet baby. We really haven't been up to much. Most of our free time we spend at my parents house because William absolutely loves to run around and play. He asks to go to Grandma's house to ride his big bike multiple times every day. When I tell him not today he looks at me with a very grown up serious face and says tomorrow? It is very funny!
Well i hope this post is coherent because I wrote it in two days and haven't reread it :) Oh well it's the pictures you all want not my words.
Wills loves to help mommy vacuum. The other day he pulled it out himself plugged it in and started vacuuming. Then later he decided he needed to measure the vacuum cleaner.
Reading the big picture story Bible with daddy before bed time.

William is such a sweetie pie!

Allie getting in on the action.

William got a train set from his Grandpa and Grandma Moulton for his birthday. He love to play with it. The other day I told him it was nap time and he was upset about it. I had to take care of Allie and when I got back he was sleeping :) What a sweetie pie.

taking a nice bath. Allie loves to take a bath and she kicks the water all over the place! She also puts her feet on the edge and pushes against it.

Laying on the floor.

William never like watching videos. He turned two and then he decided he liked watching videos. This is very handy considering a good portion of each of my days is spent feeding Allie. Here he is watching his BOZ videos.
