O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,

We went to get our Christmas tree two weekends ago. Nick wanted to go to the snow so I figured we might as well get our tree while we were at it since it is wayyyy cheaper to get it in Tahoe minus the gas but he was going that way anyway... It didn’t quite satiate his desire for snow time so he wants to head back for some boy time out in the snow because Allie doesn’t handle snow that well…

So after a short hike with Allie,Nick brought her back and I ended up hanging back and watching the girls while the boys scouted good trees. Nick came back to the car to get a rope because the tree they found was to heavy to get down the hill? I ask “how big is this tree?” thinking uhh we live in a duplex… Nick assures me, “oh not much bigger than me but it’s stinking heavy.” So by the time he get’s down to the car he is pretty tired from dragging the tree and declares it to be the heaviest Christmas tree ever (keep in mind that Nick works out on a regular basis and can bench significantly more than his weight, just saying). If you have read my blog for awhile you may remember this beast ,I mean beauty, of a Christmas tree. Saying this is the heaviest tree is something. Anyway… I see the tree and I am like uhh not much taller than you?!? after he cut off like 4 feet from the bottom we put in on our roof rack brought it home and the tree is 9 1/2  by 6 1/2 wide. Nick is 5’ 9’’. Not sure what that means… lol, his excuse “it didn’t took that big in the snow”. I have come to the realization though that any time I am not around to supervise the size of the tree being cut, Nick’s appreciation for a tree of significant stature will probably always distort his view of size and it will never be much taller than he is :)

here are the pictures I snapped

not much bigger than me… we had to completely rearrange the living room which now is almost out of commission. When I got annoyed Nick said “bah humbug, it’s only for a month.” he does have a point.christmastree_2

Merry Christmas everyone. I am not sure I will be back on the blog before Christmas because we are headed to GA and I have a lot to do before than. I have one post I might sneak in if I get time but we shall see…

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful thanksgiving. We went up to Auburn played flag football, then went to my parents house hung out and than had dinner at the Thornton’s and dessert at my parents. We even squeezed in the Thornton’s Christmas card picture. In case you don’t know my parent’s house looks like one huge house but they share and adjoining wall with my mom’s brother Matt. So I have some super close cousins. I love it. My definition of cousin is so different than most peoples.

here is the group that played flag football.

my brother Dan his girls, bro Nate and son Gav, Bro Dave and sis Rach, Cousin Kell and her fiancĂ© Jessi, Cousin Maria, Joc, Joe, James, Will, Phil, Tom, Risa, and my kids and Nick. Blake Joc’s bf played but I don’t know where he went for the picture.

cute!

I wanted some pictures of my baby girl but I didn’t have the time to take her anywhere by herself so I just did what I could at home. I put her in a basket and took some shots. The first two are my favorite.

I know I am momma and a little bias but I think she is just a beautiful baby!

Wills really loves his baby sister and he always wants to be in pictures with her. that’s not a great pic of him but still cute.

keira_7

they just love her so much!

keira_8

the three of them are in the baskets but Allie decided to throw a HUGE fit, I still have no idea why so that idea didn’t work so well for us.

I tried another setting but she kept pushing her feet and trying to climb over. Not safe, lol, and I couldn’t get the right angle background thing going on.

I forgot to mention, and I wanted to keep track, that we took Allie’s ra (pacifier) away from her about a month ago. she was starting to tell us she was tired and wanted to go to bed just to get her paci and she would sneak in and get it whenever she was upset so we finally decided she had to say goodbye. I was going to tie a sting around them and let them float away but I didn’t have balloons and they had to go, so we mailed them, where to? no-where, I went back later and threw them away I just didn’t want to dump them in the garbage, seemed kinda cold hearted. She has done better than I thought with going to bed at night, after a night or two of crying she is going to bed with no tears over her ra and she doesn’t even seem to miss it any more but… I MISS IT! Nap time has become a bit of a nightmare for momma, or you could say a really good opportunity to work through listening to momma. I called up aunt Chrisy after a particularly difficult afternoon and she helped me come up with a good plan so now we are focusing on staying on her bed for an hour. She doesn’t have to sleep but if she get’s down she get’s disciplined. I think it is going better but we shall see cause we are getting ready for nap time right now. Hope you have a great day!

happy Thanksgiving

I have so much to be thankful for in my life. I have an amazing God, I have a wonderful family, a warm home, and am more loved than I deserve or will even know. Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving!

our Allie girl

I don’t usually take the opportunity to photograph just one of my kids. I would love to have more time to practice taking pictures but what can I say, time with just one of them is a little scarce. I would love to practice my photography more though so I might start trying to make it happen, we’ll see how well that works for me.

The other day during Williams preschool Keira was napping so Allie and I walked around a took some pictures. I wasn’t overly excited with my results but that is what practice is all about. here are a few of the ones I took.
